Sacred Insight is a collective experiment in slowing down—using contemplative photography — a practice of attentive seeing — to find the Sacred in everyday life.

Many of us move through our days quickly — working, planning, responding, solving problems. Yet in the middle of ordinary life there are moments that we pass by unnoticed, that quietly invite us to slow down and look again: a landscape that stops us in our tracks, a conversation that opens something deeper, a question that lingers long after it was asked.

Sacred Insight grows out of a simple belief:

The sacred is not separate from everyday life. It is woven through it, in all persons, places and things.

Photography, reflection, and conversation can help us notice that more clearly and respond to it more deeply.

Here you will find several different kinds of content, each offering a different doorway into reflection and response:

Visual Reflections

Photography has a unique ability to slow us down. An image can hold a moment long enough for us to see what we would otherwise miss. These weekly visual reflections pair photographs with short contemplative thoughts — invitations to pause and notice, to receive, reflect, and respond.

Conversations

Periodically we will host conversations — podcasts (audio and video), interviews, guided meditations or essays — exploring spirituality, creativity, meaning, and the ways our experiences shape how we recognize the sacred in everything around us.

Community

Linked to the weekly visual reflections, our private subscribers-only “Community Chats” offer questions, themes or images meant to invite discussion and shared perspective. You are welcome to participate at your own pace however you wish: to read quietly, join the conversation with your comments, or submit your own images for the community’s contemplation.

A Simple Rhythm

New content will generally appear weekly. The goal is not volume. The goal is space for thoughtful reflection.

The Three Movements of Our Practice

To help us stay grounded, we approach every podcast, essay and image through three movements:

Receive: Shifting from “taking” a photo to “receiving” an image as a gift.

Reflect: Listening to the internal echoes of that gift

Respond: Turning our reflection into community connection and outward action.
